Pitru Dosha -Causes and Effects

According to Garuda Purana, one of the reason behind this dosha is due to abnormal or unnatural early death of any ancestor. If the last rites of the ancestors has not been performed in the righteous ways. It is also said that the soul of our ancestors & departed family members does not get peace (shanti). Or due the bad deeds of any of the ancestors the family got cursed and the next generation has to suffer that curse. It is believed that Pitra Dosh can occur up to the 7th generation. In most of the cases of Pitru Dosha, a native born in a family lineage is one of his own Ancestors. Sometimes we find that we are constantly suffering inspite of no bad deeds done by us in this life time, we are not getting any results of any of our hard work. In some cases even the native is earning good but the savings are draining out due unexpected expenses or diseases.

 If the ascendant lord, in vedic astrology horoscope, is placed in fifth, eighth or tenth and is united with any of the malefic planets like  Saturn, Rahu, Ketu or Mars; it generates Pitra Dosha.

 If Sun and Moon is afflicted with Rahu and Ketu. Hence, if Sun is under the malefic influence in the 10th house, indicates presence of some kind of Pitru Dosh. 

 Rahu and Ketu are with any of the planet and are placed in the 6th, 8th and the 12th house. 

 If 5th house in chart is occupied by more than 1 malefic planet such as Mars, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu; it creates a Pitra Dosh related with progeny. Due to this native suffers the problems regarding their male child. 

Some other planetary positions, such as if Rahu is situated in 2nd, 6th 8th and 12th house then it is considered as Pitru Dosh. If Saturn occupies these house, also consider as a pitru dosha. 

In some cases Sun and Saturn are in the same house, or having aspect, it is also considered as Pitru Dosh. 

Saturn represents our ancestors in horoscope, if Saturn is afflicting Moon then predict that Pitru Dosh is from maternal side, while if Saturn is afflicting Sun, then predict that the Pitru Dosh is from paternal side. 

 In another combination, when 9th house, 9th lord, is under influence of Rahu and Ketu this indicates Pitru Dosh. 

 Remedies to reduce the effect of Pitru Dosha. 
Performing Narayan Nagbali Pooja, gives somewhat a relief in the problems cause due to Pitru Dosha. 
Do the Rudra Abhishek in name of your ancestors Chant the mantra 'Aum bhagwate vasudevay namah' 
Do donations in name of your ancestors during Pitru paksha or Amavasya.
